We’re incredibly excited to share an exciting new iPad experience for all our E-commerce customers across the UAE, KSA, Bahrain and India!

This comes on the back of 6 months of hard work, loads of design reviews and umpteen iterations. The new app showcases a completely fresh experience for our customers which I’ll be talking about in detail below. But first, a quick look at the new app in action:

So, what’s new?

For starters, the new iPad App is completely optimized for iOS 11 across both Portrait and Landscape modes. We’ve followed the key principles detailed in Apple’s ‘Human Interface Guidelines’ on interaction design, iconography and topography in particular, working to ensure that the customer experience is extremely user-friendly. We then made sure our improvements and features were packaged in an inspirational new look.

A fresh and far more visual Home Page

As our core business is fashion, furniture and accessories, we believed it made sound sense to increase our visual presence and move away from text-heavy layouts.

The larger format of the iPad was the key to making this happen. Obviously, we’re more limited for space in our iPhone or Android apps, where shoppers must use text on the flyouts to navigate to different departments. On our iPad apps, we’ve used images instead of text so our customers simply need to tap on the image to go to their desired department. It’s as easy as that!

You’ll notice the increased focus on our departments in the Home page below:

We’ve added more images and reduced the text on our Product page as well.

In the new iPad app, we’ve divided the Product page into two sections, with images on the left and text on the right. Both sections can be scrolled through independently, which gives the customer the freedom to rapidly and easily move through all the information at hand before making a decision.

Buy Now and Single Page Checkout on the iPad

Just a month back, we released our completely new Buy Now feature and Single Page Checkout experience. Our iPad App has inherited these awesome features, making the checkout experience more intuitive, fast and user-friendly for our customers.

Simpler and friendlier Payment Options

We have also launched PayPal for our GCC customers to increase the ways our customers can shop and pay for their orders (Read more here). Our brand new iPad App comes with payment options like Apple Pay (UAE), SADAD (KSA) and Wallets (India) along with Cash on Delivery.

A fresher and more universal set of icons for our tab bar navigation

And that’s not all. We’ve changed how our icons appear on the iPad app. Instead of using outline-based icons, we’re now experimenting with solid ones. This is in line with Apple’s guidelines, which say that solid icons tend to be more visible to the customer than outlines.

Experience Augmented Reality on our Home Centre iPad App

You can now experience Augmented Reality which is powered by Apple’s ARKit. We launched it for our iPhone platform in September last year and are extremely excited to bring it to our iPad customers as well. It gives the Home Centre customers the ability to preview products in their own space before they shop.
