We’re extremely thrilled to announce the launch of online shopping in Saudi Arabia for six of our biggest brands — Centrepoint, Home Centre, Babyshop, Splash, Shoe Mart and Lifestyle, across desktop, mobile, iOS and Android platforms. This marks our third country launch following the UAE in 2012 and India in 2016.

As the world moves towards Omni-Channel, we’re happy to build on the success of our brick and mortar stores in Saudi Arabia by offering our customers a simple, fast, safe and user-friendly way to shop our brands online.

The new sites and apps allow our customers to choose from over 25,000 products across departments like furniture, home décor, fashion, beauty and baby essentials.

To make this possible, we partnered with a multi-disciplinary team of over 200 stakeholders drawn from multiple countries — Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and India. Our team included experts from our brands and within the Web Team who worked on strategy and implementation over 8 months to ensure that we launched on schedule. It sure wasn’t easy but it was worth every ounce of effort.

Recognising that these are exciting times for E-commerce in Saudi Arabia, we were keen to bring our customers a superior shopping experience. According to Statista, E-commerce revenue in the country exceeded $ 4.5 billion in 2016 alone, growing 37% from 2015. By 2020, revenue is projected to reach $8.35 billion. Keeping this in mind, our team worked hard to understand what customers in Saudi Arabia want and how we could give it to them.

Here are a few of the features we offer our online customers in Saudi Arabia:

  1. Cash on Delivery: Currently, Cash on Delivery accounts for 85% of all online payments in Saudi Arabia. However, as millennials are comfortable with digital transactions, card payments are also becoming increasingly popular. Our sites and apps offer both Cash on Delivery and card payments, so that customers can choose the method that works best for them.
  2. 2–4 Business-Day Delivery: We are offering our customers in Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah 2 business day delivery and 4 business days for the rest of the kingdom. This is among the best delivery promises that any competitor has offered in Saudi Arabia.
  3. Scheduled Deliveries for Home Centre furniture: This feature allows Home Centre’s online customers to select a delivery date and time from a list of available options as they shop, or opt for 2-day Express shipping for an additional SAR 250. Scheduled Deliveries have already proven to be popular with our online customers in the UAE, accounting for over 75% of total Home Centre orders.
  4. Returns to Store — This is a brand new feature that we’re overjoyed to launch exclusively in Saudi Arabia. Shoppers paying by cash can return products purchased online directly in-store for an instant cash refund. They can also opt for a Credit Note which they can then use to shop online or within the store. Over and above this, a return can be made by initiating a request online or by calling our Customer Support team for a pick-up.
  5. Shukran Loyalty Programme — Shukran has 9 million members in Saudi Arabia, and they can now easily earn and spend valuable Shukrans online or on our apps. All they need to do is link their Shukran account with their online shopping account. It’s that easy!
  6. Favourites — This thoughtful and useful feature allows customers to heart their favourite products and buy them later. It’s a convenient and simple solution for shoppers who’ve fallen in love with one of our products but can’t decide whether or not to pick it up right away.
  7. FastPay — Customers get to experience lightning-quick, 1-click shopping with our easy payment feature. When FastPay is enabled, shoppers can checkout directly from the product page itself. It’s a simpler, faster and more convenient way to shop!

What’s next?

Following the launch of these 6 brands, we’ll be bringing Max Fashions online in Saudi Arabia by the end of August. The value fashion brand will offer clothing, footwear and accessories for women, men and children, in a fast, simple and user-friendly experience.

We’re also looking forward to launching Click & Collect in Saudi Arabia later in the year. Just as in the UAE, we’ll leverage our vast store network to allow customers to pick up their order from a preferred store. We’ll keep you posted on this!
